[7-28-01] The body is the symbol of the Soul or the person that lives within. The Soul enters the body at conception. The Soul is bestowed upon the fetus through the natural union of a man and woman. The body is a temporary dwelling for the Soul, so that the Soul can experience the material environment of the earth. The body is transitory, the Soul is sacred and eternal.

An Immaculate Conception...

is the fertilization of a female egg in the completely purified body of a woman, by the sperm from the equally purified body of her husband.

Webster's Dictionary Definitions:
Immaculate:
1. having no stain or blemish: .
2. containing no flaw or error.
3. spotlessly clean... Pure.
Conception: The act of becoming pregnant; the state of being conceived.
Immaculate Conception: "A conception in which the offspring is preserved free of original sin by divine grace." (The church scholars have yet to decide exactly what the original sin was.)

What does it mean to have a, "completely purified body?" The body can be completely purified by fasting, prayer, affirmations and eating a raw food diet
or fruitarian diet, until the following conditions are well established in the body.

[4-2-02] The results of physical and mental purity for you will be: the Living God will live in and function through your body; you will hear the Inner Voice of your Soul; you will realize freedom of your personal mind from the mental clutter and feelings of guilt and remorse; you will be free of all bad memories; you will have tremendous energy; you will not feel any pain when you are injured; you will always be optimistic and hopeful; you will never be sick; you will be free of sexual lust; and you will be at peace with yourself and others.

"[1-4-05]By the time a person is able to maintain a strict-raw food diet and has fasted some, their sex drive drops to zero. They can still have sex, but there is no longer a lusting desire for sex. Fasting and a raw food diet also 'deletes' those nagging thoughts of guilt and remorse that seem to run and rerun unbidden
through the mind."

"With physical purity you will be released from all dis-ease... no more
headaches, colds, upset stomach or aching joints. The discharges from your
nose and ears will cease. Skin problems like pimples, dandruff, and flaking
will disappear. You will always have a sweet fresh breath and body odor.
Your sleep will always be deep and sound. If you are bald, your hair will
grow back and your teeth will expel their fillings and grow in new enamel."

"Your eyesight, hearing, memory and thinking will be sharp and clear. You
will have unlimited energy. If you are injured you will feel no pain.You will
wake in the morning with a feeling of wonder and joy... like when you were
a child... "Oh, boy, what am I going to do today." A feeling of innocence returns.
You will begin to see your environment as the spiritual reality that it truly is."

When you experience these things... your body is well on the way to being
completely pure. I have personally experienced all of these things. Inspiration
will guide you... what more you should do.

The time of conception will be decided on by Angels, and will happen while
the couple is sleeping, there is no desire or lust involved, and the time decided
upon is auspicious for the conception of a conscious Christ Child.

"Marriage was instituted by the angels as a sacrament, and the sacred rites
of generation was performed under their supervision at certain times of the
year when interplanetary lines of force were propitious for propagation."

Ancient Hindu scriptures say that the conception of children should happen,
"without passion." In my own experience I found that the children conceived
without passion, in our sleep, were much more inclined to seeking spiritual
truth than the other children.

"[7-2-01] My first wife and I had four children with no planning. The youngest
boy and the youngest girl were conceived in our sleep. Both of these children
were interested in spiritual things, while the other two children were not. I'm
sure there was angelic intervention in the conception of the two younger
children."

"...and the time decided upon will be auspicious for the conception of a Christ
Child." You ask, "Aren't all children born, the Christ Child? Yes, this is true,
all children are the children of God, and are the Christ Child." In this case we
are speaking of the Christ Child as a child that is aware from the very beginning
of their Christ consciousness.

This child will not have to work through the illusion of the world view of
things fostered by the lack of knowledge of most parents, family and friends.
They will realize and know the truth from the very beginning or early on and
will be free of all illusions of the world and the worldly.

Jehovih [Almighty God] said : As I have quickened
the seed of the first born, so will I quicken all seed
to the end of the earth.

And each and every man-child and woman-child
born into life will I quicken with a new spirit, which
shall proceed out of Me at the time of conception.

Neither will I give to any spirit of the higher or lower
heaven power to enter a womb, or a fetus of a womb,
and be born again. [There is no such thing as reincarnation.]

As the corporeal earth passeth away, so shall pass
away the first race Asu; [Adam, and first race of mankind.]
but as I pass not away, so shall not pass away the
spirit of man. [Man's spirit is immortal.]

Interesting, in this short passage in the, Oahspe, four major questions that
have plagued mankind for centuries have been answered. 1. Where we come
from. 2. Life begins at conception. 3. There is no such thing as reincarnation.
4. Man's spirit has eternal life

For our discussion, of immaculate conception, we are mainly interested in
#2."...I quicken with a new spirit, which shall proceed out of Me at the time
of conception."

Life begins at conception. When the sperm unites with the egg... the spirit
enters the first cell of the body. This spirit being,"the Spirit of God," is
aware... with the mind and memory functioning on the subconscious level.
This subconscious mind or Universal Creative Mind is the Creator of all
things, which we call God. All of us live and have our being in this, "Universal
Infinite Intelligence," which has created us, our world and the universe.

The natural progression of a Christ Child birth:

Preparing for conception...

When the raw food or fruitarian diet is well established and sex drives have
dropped to zero, preparation for conception may begin. An intense desire on
the part of both parents for an immaculate conception is necessary. While
waiting for the, "Angelic inspired union," the couple will live a brother and
sister without sex.

The couple will do everything they can to further purify their bodies while
waiting, becoming as physically fit as possible and maintaining a harmonious-
loving spiritual relationship and lifestyle.

Dedication, patience, and faith are a must to succeed... there is no hurry or
hurrying the process, relax and be at peace, and know that you are doing a
great work for mankind, the Angels and God. From this union a conscious
Christ Child will be born.

Conception...

"The time of conception will be decided on by Angels, and will happen while
the couple is sleeping, there is no desire or lust involved, and the time decided
upon will be auspicious for the conception of a conscious Christ Child."

While waiting for conception to occur the couple should still sleep together.
This will not be a cause for frustration because the driving desire for sex will
no longer exist.

When the spiritual union takes place both the husband and wife will awaken
during climax. You may be certain that at this time that the wife has conceived.
The miracle of a new spiritual being is growing inside her body and should be
nurtured from the moment of conception forward.

The parents should talk to the child and welcome it into this world. They
should deal with the newly conceived person as an equal. It is not necessary
to relate to the baby as an adult, but rather, as the wonderful baby that it is.
And they should always remember that they are speaking to the living Christ.

The babies subconscious mind and memory are fully intact and functioning. The subconscious mind never forgets anything. "This Universal Mind [subconscious mind] is responsive to thought. It creates what is projected into it." From the very beginning the baby is cognizant of the mothers thoughts, feelings and emotions... and the sounds in the environment close around the mother. Spiritual education of the baby begins at conception.

The babies subconscious mind will try and create in form and substance what is
suggested to it. The subconscious mind does not rationalize or think... it just creates.
"The subconscious mind turns every conviction of the Conscious Mind [the input from
the mother and father's minds] into physical reality.

What ever the Subconscious mind knows... the subconscious Mind creates." This is the law: the Conscious Mind thinks and decides and the Subconscious Mind creates whatever is decided... without question.

Knowing these things the parents will realize their grave responsibility in nurturing their child. It is not a responsibility to cause trepidation but a reason for celebration and great joy. They have the great privilege and honor of helping a conscious Christ Child come
into the world.

"The Philosophers hold that to engender children is the most sacred and filial duty of man. Both man and woman are taught by them that the aim and aspiration of union is to enter into a conscious relationship with the incoming ego or Soul."

Birthing and Raising Children

When a child determines that it will be born, its soul goes through an intricate and
delightful process of discovery and choice making. Optimally, when it is born it understands who it is, why it has come, and what it will accomplish in the time it has chosen to be on the planet Earth. The connection that this child has to the universe is great. It knows it is light, it knows it is immortal.

The child knows that the choices it makes are important for its own development and for the development of all other people and all other souls. The child understands that it is one with all souls. It is reminded that on Earth many people have amnesia.

They do not remember that they are one with all things and that they can live in peace and harmony. The child is reminded that sometimes people live separately from themselves, from others, and from the creative source, which is called god or monad.

Parents have perhaps the most important job on the planet because they work with these souls who remember their divinity, the souls of those who are here to bring peace to the planet.

You are privileged because the souls that are part of your life have the wisdom to guide you into the future. And at the same time, they need to remember and understand, specifically and clearly, why they are here, how they can serve, and what it is like to be in the physical body.

It is important for the parents, particularly the mother, to support the process of soul within the child and to be in touch with its spiritual aspect. When parents do this, they help the child and reunite with their own spiritual essence.

Every child has a specific attunement to the dimension of spirit and to the design for what it is here to accomplish. The more in tune the parEnts are with the awareness of the child and its design, the more clearly they can facilitate that design in their child's life.

The Life's Vision

When a child is born it is important to stimulate the memory housed inside the soul and to support and unify with it as much as possible. When this is done, the child lives from the memory of union and is not afraid in the world. The child is more creative and productive. It does not separate from itself as light or from universal awareness.

When parents help decode the message, the life's vision, they help the child experience that message from the day of its birth. If the parents, particularly the mother, are in a space of unity and awareness of the child's spirit at the moment of birth, then the child will be "home" immediately. It will go down the tunnel, through the chambers of time and space, and arrive able to resume its spiritual calling without delay. The life's vision will be clear.

Such children can walk in truth from the day of their birth. They are centered in their body, in their purpose, in their mind, in their heart, and in their soul. These children are less influenced than others by beliefs of fear and judgment. They have an easier time than those who do not have this clarity from the first moment. The mother, particularly, has a unique opportunity to help the child remember its calling from the first moment. This is the most crucial role that either parent can play.

Affirmation of Light: Honoring Your Child's Purpose and Truth

When the baby is placed on your abdomen, say clearly in your mind or out loud to the child, "You are light and light you shall remain. You are light and light you shall remain. You are light and light you shall remain." It is wise to say things three times because each word, sentence, and idea is planted firmly into the awareness and memory. Saying things three times becomes a kind of ritual where the child and mother bond through the words, ideas, concepts, and feelings that lie within them.

As the child experiences this connection and the beauty of these words, it relaxes into form. You will see the body become softer, yet stronger. The will and the pathway of knowledge will merge so there is a distinct connection between what the child wishes to accomplish and the strength and wisdom to do so.

It is advisable for you to say to your child every day for two years, "You are light and light you shall remain. You are light and light you shall remain. You are light and light you shall remain." After you have anchored light through the body, into the feet, and out through the body, say three times: "You have been born into the earth. You have been born into the earth. You have been born into the earth. And you remain as light, you remain as light, you remain as light."

Now place one hand on the heart of your child. Place your other hand on your heart and say the following affirmation:

"You are light and I honor you,
You have come to this place to live with me.
I know that you are from me and that I do not in any way own you.
You are free.

You are a child of light, a child of the universe.

I know you have wisdom and truth within you, and I honor that wisdom and truth.
I give you permission to live your own truth. I ask you to respect my truth, but I will not ask you to live my truth. Your truth is yours, and my truth is mine.

Your ability to know is deep and profound, and I respect and honor it.
I will guide you, but I will not expect you to live my life or my ways.

I will always encourage and support your creativity and the fulfillment of your potential. In every way I will be open to the experiences we have, always loving you from my soul, always understanding that our love will continue for all time.

There is nothing you have to do to win my love.

There is no condition or situation upon which I will remove my love from you.
I will love you forever, and that is promised to you in this moment."

When you speak these words to the child, you give it permission to live from the Seed of Light within. You bring forth its arrangement of light and form and call the child's potential into being.

Pledge to the child with your heart that you will always honor its wisdom. Tell it that it does not have to buy in to what you believe. You will discuss things that happen and be together in working things out. The child needs to know that you will not make it give up its wisdom for yours, that it will not have to give up its truth for yours.

Ask the child to honor your truth, also. Let it know that in your family system, love is unconditional. You will always love the child, no matter what it does. Of course this doesn't give the child permission to do just anything, but you are letting it know that you will never withdraw your love.

Remember that your child is a gift to you, and that as you cherish the gift and nurture it, the light of the child will come into being in form. Its potential will be lived in the world. In a way, this is your greatest contribution, because the nurturing and the love and the light of one soul can change the world.

PREPARATION FOR PREGNANCY

To create a superior child, you need an environment filled with love, consideration, harmony and spirituality. Education and wealth are no guarantee of health and happiness. Parents are the soil from which a child blossoms.

Quality of genes, personal cleanliness, continence, positive emotional attitudes, a spiritual life-style, astrological and karmic influence as well as physical environment, play a role in determining what soul will enter the impregnated female.

Prepare your consciousness for birth. Have the greatest desire for a child. Have visions of what it is going to be like. Let the baby be as real as if he or she were already with you. Study scriptures, the works of the ancient wise ones and inspirational writers and poets of all ages.

Study the lives of great people. Spend time in nature. Find joy in the little things of life. If you become satisfied with less material goods, then you will become more imaginative and will discover how much you really have and how few your true needs really are.

It is best to improve the nutritional pattern at least six months prior to conception. However, at any time during pregnancy you may begin to improve the spectrum of nutrients in the diet by adding sprouts, indoor greens and juices.

Do not make any radical change in diet after conception. Do not try a detoxification regime or a fast of more than twenty-four hours. Any pronounced variation in the level of body toxicity could trigger cleansing reactions harmful to the fetus. For example, do not switch from a cooked food to a fruitarian diet or vice versa.

A change from a concentrated diet to the lighter, juicier raw fruits permits the body to eliminate toxins stored in the tissues. On the other hand, if you have thoroughly detoxified your body, the bloodstream would be flooded by the toxins produced from the body's efforts to metabolize cooked foods.

To minimize the damaging effects of such poisons during pregnancy, you may switch gradually to an organic vegetarian diet and avoid a rapid weight loss. This will prevent a quick release into the bloodstream of DDT and other chemicals stored in body fat.

Above all avoid drugs, including cigarettes, alcohol, spices, strong soaps and smog. Since the placenta does not filter out these substances, they can damage the fetus.

Nor should your mind be poisoned by stress from competition in the business world, tension from driving in heavy traffic, violence on television or movie screen, arguments, excessive noise.

If you take wheat grass juice, sprouts, seed, nuts and uncooked vegetables, live naturally and are happy during pregnancy, you will give birth to a healthy child.2

Pregnancy... and Spiritual Parenting.

The miracle of spiritual conception has happened and the Christ Child is growing within the mother. Day by day cells are being added to to the Child's body... and day by day thoughts, words, feelings and sounds are being impressed on the child's subconscious mind. With these thoughts, words and feelings the Child begins
to build a conception of the person that it is.

The subconscious mind remembers everything and creates what is positively impressed upon it. This is why it is so important to gently nurture the Child from the very beginning.

The parents must create an atmosphere of quiet security where the Child is never frightened by loud noises or angry voices. If the baby is frightened by a loud noise or anything else... that is the beginning of fear responses to life, and fear is the number one inhibitor of well being and self esteem. To keep the Christ Child free of all, "inhibitors of life," the parents must keep the in utero baby completely free of stress.

Inhibitors of life are memories that cause pain, discomfort or lack that are stored in the subconscious mind. "Strange as it may seem, it may be such a trivial thing as the subconscious burying of an infant-heard [shouted] phrase: 'There's never enough to go round.' The Subconscious Mind believes there is not enough, and lo, the manifestation of lack and limitation is all that this particular person can ever encounter."

The parents should speak to the Child with quiet gentle voices continually reassuring the baby that it is welcome into their lives, that they love it unconditionally. The parents should continually reassure the baby of it's well being and instill confidence and self esteem in it's subconscious mind. Again, what the subconscious mind believes, it creates.

The mother and father must always keep in mind the their child is the Christ Child... pure spirit, one with God. And that the Child was cast into human form by the infinite intelligence that creates and maintains everything in the universe.

To understand why we are nurturing the Child in the way we are, we must understand how the mind works. The first thing we need to understand is that there is just one mind... God's mind. And we all use this mind and think of it as our own... and part of it, what we call the Conscious Mind, is our own invention. When man created the illusion that he was separate from God he created his own personal mind which we call the, "Conscious Mind."

The conscious mind thinks that it thinks, argues with itself, makes a decision and the next minute refutes that decision, worries, daydreams and makes plans for the future, and continually replays scenes from the past in which a person feels guilt and remorse. The conscious mind is generally a mess, but, believe it or
not, it controls the Subconscious Mind.

"The Subconscious Mind always acts, and it acts on the most predominant thought in the Conscious Mind. The single function of the Subconscious Mind, or the Universal Mind, (God) is to manifest into form or circumstance in the world the seed of though, desire or strong feelings.

Man has complete freedom of choice in the kind of thoughts he wishes to plant in the garden of the Subconscious Mind. No human being can assume the responsibility for a single thing other than his own thinking, for the Universal Subconscious Mind does all creating. "

The parents should be very quiet when the baby is sleeping during pregnancy being particularly careful not to suddenly wake the baby and frighten it. If you should accidentally frighten the baby you should reassure and sooth it with gentle words and soft singing.

The mother should exercise daily, taking short walks without tiring herself, sunbath and drink solar energized water, swim in clean natural water that is not overly cold, do very light housekeeping without noise and do exercises prescribed for all pregnant mothers. She should be very careful not to bump the baby or fall. Her
diet should remain the same... but, no chocolate cake, pickles or ice cream. :-)

The Influence of Maternal Chastity upon the
Brain Development of the Embryo

There are important physiological reasons why continence during the
period preceding conception (involving not only abstinence from sexual activity
but also the complete conservation of genital fluid) is necessary if a superior
child is to be produced.

The human egg, at the commencement of its development, is much like a hen's egg, containing white germinal substance and a yolk in the center. The chemical composition of this yolk (the first external material to enter into the embryonic brain) is determined by the blood supply to the ovaries during the period previous to conception.

Any loss of genital fluid during that time impoverishes and devitalized the blood, and deprives the yolk of the maturing ovum of the phosphorus compounds required for the nourishment of the embryo's brain tissues, at the commencement of its development.

Continence during gestation, which is universally practiced by healthy animals, unperverted primitive people and Indians, is a law of nature. After its fertilization, the egg attaches itself to the uterine mucous membranes, which then thicken and swell, so that their glands may produce increased secretions for the nourishment of the embryo.

These glandular secretions fill the cavity of the uterus, in which the embryo is developing, its cervical opening (the os uteri) being plugged by sticky mucous, so that all of this valuable fluid may be retained.

The first differentiation to appear on the embryo is the neural canal, the beginning of the spine, brain and nervous system. The young embryo is almost all brain-tissue. At the end of the first month of its development, when it is half an inch in length, its head is larger than the rest of the body.

The younger the brain, the more plastic and sensitive it is, and the more
durable are impressions made upon it. During its early formation, the size
and chemical quality of the embryonic brain are largely determined by the
character of its nutrition by certain organic minerals, such as phosphorus,
which are obtained from the secretions of the genital glands.

The embryo is nourished first by the yolk-sac attached to it, then by the glandular
secretions in the uterus, and finally by the maternal blood, conveyed to it
through the placenta and the umbilical cord.

The uterine secretions are then absorbed by lymphatics and transmitted to the embryo through the mother's blood. The quality of these secretions is determined by the mother's diet, and by the degree to which they are conserved within the body through chastity.

Intercourse during pregnancy, by causing coincident and subsequent discharges (by orgasms and by leucorrhea) of these secretions, the raw material of embryonic brain tissue, interferes with and retards the normal development of the unborn child.1

Dr. H. W. Long, a physician, psychoanalyze and neurologist, after subjecting the problem of prenatal influence to a scientific investigation, has come to the conclusion that it is a reality. In his book, Motherhood, he cites a large number of cases which have come under his observation, showing a definite correlation between the mother's psychological condition during gestation and the character of the resulting child.

Many great men have owed their talent to prenatal influence: Napoleon, Goethe, Van Dyck, Schopenhauer, Charles Kingsley, Samson, Jesus, Buddha, Confucius, Chrishna, St. David, Alexander, Thomas Aquinus.

Prenatal influence is effected through the maternal blood. Since the embryo is a condensation of elements derived from this blood, the chemical quality of the latter will influence the development of the unborn child. The factor which may most immediately affect the blood's chemistry is the mother's diet. If the mother's blood is toxic as a result of acid diet or the use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco the child may be subnormal both physically and mentally.

On the other hand, great purity of the mother's blood, as occurs when no meat, wine or acid food is used before and during gestation, will lead to the birth of a superior child. The mothers of Chishna, Samson, Buddha, Jesus, St. David and Honen Shonin lived upon a vegetarian diet during gestation.

The blood of the mother contains internal secretions, chemically representing all organs of her body, and reproducing these, in miniature form in the embryo. Between the ductless glands of the mother and the organs of the embryo there is even closer relationship than between these glands and the mother's own organs.

These glandular secretions (which are greatly influenced by .the organic minerals in the diet and by impulses from the central nervous system, registering psychological states) profoundly affect embryonic development. A weakened or sickly condition of any member of the mother's body (due to a glandular and dietetic cause) will result in an improper development of a corresponding organ in the embryo.

And inversely, an exercising and strengthening of any maternal organ, accompanied by an increased secretion of associated ductless glands, will enhance the growth of a corresponding embryonic organ. This relationship or prenatal influence takes place directly through the blood. Physical and psychological traits are inherited in this way, rather than through the germ-cell.

There is an interdependent relationship between the ductless glands and the organs they control. The thyroids, for instance, are associated with cerebral activity; and the exercise of those maternal brain-centers which these glands control will, through the influence of their hormones, augment the growth of similar enters in the embryo.

As there is a relationship, through the blood, between the bodily organs of mother and the child, so is there one between the respective parts of the brain. The thoughts, images, perceptions, aspirations and ideals in the mind of the expectant mother will, in this way, materialize themselves as potential cerebral faculties in the embryo.

Emotional states, because of the different glandular secretions by which they are accompanied, may affect, for good or ill, embryonic development. These glandular secretions, produced by thoughts and emotions, will activate the growth of similar ductless glands and brain centers in the embryo, thereby laying in the child the physiological basis for the reappearance of the psychological faculties which the mother has exercised during gestation,

Potential genius, along any line, may be insured in the coming child if the pregnant mother concentrates upon the cultivation of these abilities especially when these express her own natural endowments.

Dr. Long says: "By and by, parents will come to understand that by giving special attention to any faculty or quality they desire to have reproduced in their offspring, they can have their wishes gratified just in proportion to the intelligent effort expended"1

The parents should talk, read, sing and gently chant to the baby:

Baby, we love you. Your mother and father love you with all our hearts. We are so happy that you have come to live with us. You are a divine being, the Christ Child. We need you to teach us how to live... how to create Heaven on Earth.

Soon you will be out in the world with us... and we will take care of you and keep you warm.We will all sing and dance together and watch the deer in the meadow and high flying eagle.We will be a happy and fun family together... first your mother and father will teach you about the world we live in... and later you can teach us about the divine world you live in. You are our beautiful baby, perfect in health, perfect in form, perfect in every way, and we love you with all our hearts.

For you are the Christ... one with God. God created us all... He is our Spiritual Father. All of us living here on earth are one being, God's Being... a Spiritual Being living through many bodies. God's spirit is within and goes before me,
making my way safe and secure.

I live in a world of God's creation, a world
in which the spirit of God is everywhere
present. Even though the people and the
environment of my world may change, God's
presence is constant—within me and around me.

In both new and familiar surroundings, I am
in the presence of God. When I am trying to
find my way along unfamiliar streets or
through everyday traffic, I remain calm as I
softly affirm: God's spirit is within me and goes
before me, making my way safe and secure.

When I am in my own home or staying
somewhere faraway, I affirm: God's spirit is
within me and surrounding me. I am safe and
secure. I enjoy life wherever I am because I
know I am in God's presence. Every day I give
thanks that I am a living, breathing expression

EIGHTH MEDITATION: LOVE

The truth about life is the infinite love of God for all
things. Each man is my brother, bound to me by
immortal and everlasting ties. I love all people; they
dwell in my Father and my Father in them. I surrender
my heart to humanity, and humanity serves me with love.

I surrender my heart to God, and the love of God becomes
complete in me. I am one with all the power and vigor and
knowledge of the universe. [I let go of fear and confusion;
they are illusions and cannot live with truth, which is
love, which is complete and fulfilled in me now.]

The great reality of Universal Subconscious Mind is forever

The way to this fulfillment is through contact with the center
of consciousness, through communion with the silent

with God, move with God. I am serene and sure, joyful
and achieving, confident of ultimate splendor.

Examples of Singing:

The songs, like the the talking and reading, should be uplifting and have a spiritual message for the Christ Child... but some can be just for fun. Be careful with traditional children's songs because many have fear inducing lyrics... "Three blind mice... they cut off their tails with a carving knife," and "You are my sunshine... please don't take my sunshine away." Some of the lyrics can be changed so they are OK. The mother to be may want to play soothing music in the background during the day.

A Practitioner's Story

It is the first day of fall, a good day for beginning new things. I enter my meditation room and sit down. As I ground my feet into the earth, I immediately fill up with emotion and tears. One voice says, "I don't want another baby. I don't want any more sleepless nights." But I know this is just my habitual resistance to receiving, my "no" to the bigger "yes" that I feel filling the room.

I connect to this deeper, bigger feeling. A sacred presence fills the room. I feel my openness to letting the soul come in... a receptivity, for indeed that is all we need to "do" to be able to incarnate a soul, simply sit in receptivity. It doesn't feel as though this baby is coming to me, but to the whole family... me, my husband, my son Jacob.

As I ground myself deep into the center of the earth, tears well up again, as I feel the support and softness of The Mother. Grounding has never felt so soft. I am aware of the Earth as an entity, almost as a personality, supporting me and wrapping her softness around me.

Now I focus on the connection. I hear my voice saying, as I say so often to my clients, "Imagine there is a cord coming out of your heart. It comes out of your heart, goes out into the room, and connects to your baby, who is floating around somewhere in the room."

Almost immediately, I feel a small, sweet being connected to me on my left side. I surrender to the sweetness of that being, that sweet, sweet feeling that a new baby brings. Of course, in this case, it is really the soul that I am feeling, not the physical baby itself, but the sweetness we feel in new babies is not only the physical baby either.

The form elongates and solidifies. In my mind's eye, it now looks like a beautiful young woman in flowing clothes, reminiscent of a Greek goddess. I ask, "Who are you?"

The answer comes right away. "I am your next baby." I feel strongly that this baby is a girl, but I resist that. I want to stay open. (During my pregnancy with my son, I was sure I had a girl at first too.)

I feel deeply my love and longing for this baby. At the same time I feel my love and connection to my son, Jacob. I know that I will be able to love both. I ask the baby when she should come and hear, "You'll know when." I find myself saying internally the name "Kathryn." It seems to be associated with this grown-up soul being. I don't know what that means, but I write it down.

My journey into the realm of pre-birth communication began when I was pregnant with my first child. I wanted, more than anything, to communicate with the being inside of me. That was almost more for me than for him. Though I became pregnant at age 36, I did not use ultrasound to check on my baby's progress. I had all the usual fears and fantasies about what could be wrong with my baby.

Yet, throughout my pregnancy, I had the strong feeling that all was well with my baby and his growth. How did I know that? Well, I asked him. And he answered. The idea that a mother could talk to her unborn child and receive a response is at once a startling and yet completely natural idea to a pregnant woman in our mechanistic culture.

Startling because it means using senses other than the usual physical senses to which we normally limit ourselves. Natural because almost all pregnant women feel that strong connection to their babies and what that connection could mean.

I have yet to meet a pregnant woman to whom the idea of dialogue with her unborn baby, once introduced, did not feel instinctively right. And I have yet to meet a woman pregnant or trying to conceive who, with practice and coaching, could not participate in this kind of dialogue.

I developed the techniques for this kind of dialogue during that first pregnancy. At the time I was a third-year student at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, a four-year school in hands-on energy healing and self-transformation. At the school, we were learning all kinds of techniques that took us beyond the realm of the physical senses.

One of the techniques we learned was to sense and heal the energetic cords that connect us to our loved ones. We develop these relational cords with our parents, siblings, friends, and partners.

But Barbara Brennan, the founder of the school and author of the best-selling book, Hands of Light, describes other cords, called genetic cords, which connect a baby and her parents before the birth. In fact, the first cord that a baby establishes with her parents in this lifetime connects the baby to a place deep in her mother's heart before conception takes place.(1)

"I have seen the field of the baby-to-be floating just outside the field of its mother-to-be," Brennan writes in her 1993 book, Light Emerging. "The effort to connect the first cord comes from the person who is incarnating. If the mother is afraid of pregnancy, she may not allow the place that is deep within her heart chakra to open in a way that the connection from the child-to-be can be made."(2)

As a student at Brennan's school I was practicing cord healings with my classmates at school and with clients at home. These healings allowed clients to dialogue with their parents and heal aspects of those relationships, even though the parents were not physically present.

If I could do that, I reasoned, why couldn't I do the same thing with my baby, using the genetic cord connection? Why couldn't any woman do the same thing with her baby, whether she was pregnant or had not yet conceived?

I began a journey into myself, into the cells of my being, and the forming cells of my baby. Ultimately, it was a journey I shared with other women who were pregnant or trying to conceive. I developed simple techniques that any woman could use to connect with her baby's soul, to sense into the baby's energy field, to feel his essence, and to communicate with him/her.

I found pregnant women and women trying to conceive who were willing to try these techniques, and talked to others who had experienced communication with their unborn children spontaneously. I used the findings of this research to write my thesis for my senior year at the Barbara Brennan School.

After my graduation from the school and my certification as a Brennan Healing Science Practitioner, I began teaching women in my community to use the techniques I had developed as a student. As I shared my work with family and friends, I began getting calls at my home in Virginia from women in places like Chicago, Minneapolis, and Cincinnati... women who were having trouble conceiving babies.

Since we were working with a nonphysical connection, I did not need to be physically present to help them. I could do it on the telephone. To my surprise and delight, I discovered that any and every woman I worked with could, to some extent, access the energetic connection between herself and her baby.

Some women, who had highly developed intuition and connection to the spiritual world, could reach this connection more easily than others. But every woman I worked with, pregnant or waiting to conceive, could feel this connection and sense into either her physical baby or its soul.

Most exciting, many women could actually receive words or specific impressions from this connection. It appeared that, with practice, most women could actually dialogue with their babies. These dialogues varied from simple messages of reassurance and love to in-depth instructions on the baby's purpose in life and how to raise the baby after birth. On several occasions, the baby was able to communicate some immediate problem or discomfort that the mother was then able to address.

While my practice and one-on-one sessions are deeply satisfying, I am aware that there are millions of women in this country alone who have never heard of the field of prenatal cognition.

I want to get the news out about the ability of parents to communicate with these incarnating souls... and the importance of those communications... to more potential mothers and fathers than I can reach in my individual practice. Therefore I am writing a book about my techniques of connection and communication with babies before birth.

My dream is that one day we will have fertility clinics that address the whole concept of fertility, as well as prenatal clinics for pregnant women and their families that address every aspect of pregnancy. These clinics would be staffed with hands-on energy healers, acupuncturists, massage therapists, psychologists, and yoga teachers, as well as medical doctors, midwives, and nurses.

The clinic staff would recognize that conceiving and growing a baby are much more than physical processes, but involve the mind, the emotions, and the soul. To that day, then, is this work dedicated.
