"Great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish."
—Matthew 15:28

Today I remember that what I give my attention to, I am
giving my faith to. Like a master equestrian, I hold firmly and
intentionally the reins of my attention. I ignite my spiritual
faith. It is a kind of faith that believes the best and releases
the rest.

Today I focus my faith on the abundance of God, allowing
my imagination to paint exciting visions of beauty and
goodness onto the canvas of my mind. I breath the visions
into my heart and my heart rejoices.

As my thoughts and feelings unite at the altar of my faith
in God, this union is like a laser beam focused in the realm of
infinite possibility. And the possibilities begin to take form in
my life.

As I focus my faith on the good I seek, the mountains
of obstacles are moved aside and my way is made clear. My
whole being thrives in the ambiance of my focused faith. I
hold my focus, and my faith deepens and expands.

I know that the good I seek is seeking me.

I say "yes" to God in every area of my life,
and every area of my life thrives in miracles.

"For mortals it is impossible, but not for God;
for God all things are possible."
—Mark 10:27

Sometimes it seems that all my mind can focus on are
problems—the things that are missing from my life, the
things that are not going well. Today I take charge of my
thoughts. I embrace all the possibilities that give me life and
enthusiasm.

I remember that the purpose of my life is to glorify God.
I glorify God best when I live with passion and purpose,
when I am investing my gifts and talents in ways that bless
my life and the lives of others.

Today I embrace the possibilities for my life. I nourish
the seeds of God's purpose that are planted in my soul. I
embrace all the possibilities for loving more fully and
expressively, for living more passionately and courageously,
for giving more generously and confidently, for forgiving more
quickly and completely. I embrace the possibilities for all the
ways I can contribute to others.

Today I rise in new hope. I give thanks for another day of
living and thriving in the power of my "yes" to God and good
and Truth.

I say "yes" to God in every area of my life,
and every area of my life thrives in miracles.

"So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you
have received it, and it will be yours."
—Mark 11:24

Today I remind myself, dear God, of Your infinite goodness,
immeasurable power, and all-encompassing love. I remember
that with You everything is possible, including the dreams
of my heart.

As You created the universe in elegance and opulence,
so You create my life with beautiful dreams that call me to
become more than I thought I could be.

In this awareness, I breathe deeply and enter into the
pristine silence of my heart. There I open my whole being
to the treasures of life which You have placed in my care.
I joyfully name them, cherishing each one.

I feel exhilarated in knowing that You have given me
these gifts, trusting my stewardship.

I say "yes" to God in every area of my life,
and every area of my life thrives in miracles.

"I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work
among you will bring it to completion."
—Philippians 1:6

Like a parent tenderly cradles a newborn baby, I embrace
the vision of the good that You, dear God, offer me.

Like a parent proudly guiding a child in the ways of the
world, I guide my thoughts and actions in the way of dream
fulfillment.

I weave the visions of good I seek into a beautiful tapestry
of beauty and joy, of grace and service. I envision the
ways this tapestry can serve others and glorify God.

I open myself to Your wisdom and love, 0 God. Guide
me in parenting my dream as You parent the universe, the
sun, the moon, and stars in my life. When my dream cries
out in the middle of the night, let me comfort it.

When it falls, give me the strength to pick it up—again and again—
until it finds sure feet. When at last it graduates into a life
of its own, lead me into an unbounded joy and peace for the
exquisite creation it has become.

I say "yes" to God in every area of my life,
and every area of my life thrives in miracles.

"Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things
not seen."
—Hebrews 11:1

My faith moves beyond the frontiers of its current dimensions
as I release my desire into the allness of God. I harness
my thoughts and guide them along constructive and confident
paths. I release any doubt into the love of God. I relax
and let go, allowing God to guide my steps. I release any
doubt, all impatience, and the need to control the course of
the fulfillment of my desire. I place it all into the transforming
power of God. I rest and know that all is well.

Like the wise farmer who plants his field and allows the
soil, sun, and rain to nourish his seeds into fruitfulness, I
nourish the seeds of my desire in the soil of faith, the sun-
shine of gratitude, and the gentle rain of love.

I do not dig up the seed each day to see if its shell has
cracked and the seed has sprouted. I merely tend the field,
trusting the seed.

I say "yes" to God in every area of my life,
and every area of my life thrives in miracles.

Listen, My Beloved,
I understand how hectic and chaotic life can seem.

Remember, in My presence, you have a place of peace, a
place of rest. In My presence, you have an oasis in the
desert, a safe harbor in the storm.

I am the peace you long for. And it is in the silence of
your soul that you find Me. I am the love that guides you,
the serenity that enfolds you, the strength that lifts you up
and makes you whole.

Do not think that you have to run here or there, do this
or that, believe this teaching or that teaching to find Me.
You do not have to be perfect. You simply have to be still.

My love for you is constant, unconditional. It is this
love that will help you move beyond the feelings of chaos
to a place of calm and serenity.

Rest.

Relax.

And remember—
I am with you always.

"Come away ...by yourselves and rest a while." —Mark 6:31

I relax when I lie down at night to sleep.

I try to relax when I sit down.

But do I remember to seek relaxation in the midst of
activity?

That is the time to relax.

I do my best work when I am relaxed.

If I find myself plunging into my tasks with every nerve
and muscle tense and taut, I will pause and relax.

If I am rushing down the street, I will slow down.

Whatever I am doing—mowing the lawn. washing
dishes, paying bills, shopping, writing a letter, holding a
conference—I can do it with ease and efficiency
if I am relaxed.

If my mind is tense with impatience or irritation or
worry, I will relax. There is plenty of time in the eternity
I live in. There is nothing to be impatient about. There is
nothing to be excited about, for God is in charge of the
universe and everything and everyone in it.

I rest in the knowledge that God is my strength. I am
uplifted and renewed.

"In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness
and in trust shall be your strength."—Isaiah 30:15

It is right and good for me to be active in life—to work
and to participate in activities outside my work. But it is
equally right and good to be able to relax the mind, to relax
the body.

As part of my spiritual preparation for Easter, I take some
time each day to practice relaxing in mind and body. I take
a few moments to go apart and pray quietly, to become
completely relaxed, completely at ease, completely at peace.

If I seem to have difficulty stilling my thoughts, if I seem
to be tense and fidgety, I take a few deep breaths. This helps
me attain a poised, relaxed, quiet state.

A quiet period is essential for the renewal and refreshment
of my spirit. I feel energized, revitalized. I go forth again
into the world of activity with my faith deepened. All
my cares, fears, and burdens drop away.

I rest in the knowledge that God is my strength. I am
uplifted and renewed.

"Believe in the good news."—Mark 1:15

Jesus compared the kingdom of heaven to a pearl so
valuable, a person would sell all just to possess it. Jesus
also taught that nothing is as near to me as God and the
kingdom of heaven.

The kingdom of heaven is a state of consciousness—a
state of joy, peace, harmony, life, and beauty. It is found
right here and now, right where I am.

As I become very still and center my thoughts on God, I
enter the kingdom of heaven.

I need not look to a future time or to a distant place for
heaven. Heaven is always where God is—within me.

I now let go all doubt, all concern, all distracting, disturbing
thoughts. I center my attention on God. Right now,
where I am, just as I am, I enter the kingdom of heaven.

I am aware of God's good. I am aware of the fullness of
joy, the fullness of love, the fullness of life.

I rest in the knowledge that God is my strength. I am
uplifted and renewed.

"Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and
pray to your Father who is in secret."
—Matthew 6:6

Jesus lived a life of prayer. He knew that prayer makes
real the presence and power of God. He knew that prayer is
the jewel which illumines the way, the light which leads to
the Father's side.

Prayer is the universal solvent of every conceivable difficulty.
If by prayer I cannot always succeed in changing the conditions
of my life, I can completely alter their effect upon me—which
is the all-significant thing.

Jesus said, "Whenever you pray, go into your room and
shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and
your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

Quietly, immediately, anywhere, I may go into my
"room," for it is at the center of my being. I shut the door by
turning my attention from the without to the within. I shut
the door by becoming impervious to all that would distract
my attention.

Prayer is my opportunity to talk with God. Prayer is
God's opportunity to enlighten and inspire me.

I rest in the knowledge that God is my strength. I am
uplifted and renewed.

"Be still, and know that I am God!"—Psalm 46:10

"Be still, and know that I am God!" This is one of the
most beautiful and powerful instructions in the Bible.

Be still.

Make room for Spirit to shine through in its all-wise
serene splendor.

At the beginning of the day, I make it a practice to sit for
a little while in quiet meditation. I let go the thoughts of
yesterday's mistakes and all anxieties about tasks and
problems in front of me.

I open my mind and heart in this peaceful solitude, and
I feel a sense of inner peace and confidence. Power
and
strength flow into my being. From this morning's time of
quiet I take spiritual nourishment that is sufficient to see
me through the day and keep me strong and steadfast.

At the end of the day, I thank God for making the hours
fruitful and happy. I thank God for the quietness of spirit
that is mine as I meet sleep trustingly.

I rest in the knowledge that God is my strength. I am
uplifted and renewed.

"Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace...
in peace because they trust in you."
—Isaiah 26:3

Just as Isaiah found the source of his peace to be God,
so do I find God to be the source of my peace. I fill my mind
so full of God's life, God's power, God's love that there is no
room for discord, inharmony, misunderstanding, or impatience.

Within me there is always a sanctuary of peace that no
outer storm can disturb. No condition, no person can prevent
me from experiencing this inner peace. At any time I can turn
within and reestablish myself in the peace and poise of Spirit.

"Peace! Be still!" Just saying the words brings a wonderful
feeling of peace. I say these words to my emotions, and I
rise out of all tendency to feel cross or irritable.

"Peace! Be still!" All tension leaves me. God's presence
fills my whole being, and I know that nothing can disturb the
calm peace of my soul.

I live in peace.

I sleep in peace.

I work in peace.

I rest in the knowledge that God is my strength. I am
uplifted and renewed.

5th Sunday March 13,2005

Listen, My Beloved,

Before the beginning ... there was silence. Before I
began creation ... there was silence. Before the Word ...
there was silence. All creation—the Word, all things—have
their birth in the silence.

Take time now to rest in the silence. The silence, where
there is nothing and yet there is everything. The silence,
where there is only Me, only the One. Feel it, experience it,
become one with Me.

Now, listen for a breath.

Out of the silence there is My breath. This breath is the
breath of life itself. Take time now to feel My breath, the
breath of the Divine. Feel My breath on and through you
right now. It brings with it life, a newness, a change in your
very nature.

First there is silence; then the breath; now there is creation.
Now there is a new experience: the creation of the
kingdom of heaven. Experience My kingdom now, right
where you are. It is real; it is true; it is all there is. Now,
see it all about you—in the people that you meet, in the
experiences that you have, and remember ...

First the silence ... then My breath ... now creation ...
Amen.

"He was born blind so that God's works might he revealed in him."
—John 9:3

I may be experiencing chaos in my life right at this
moment, but not for the reason that I think I am. I may want
to perceive it to be someone else's fault that I am having this
experience. I may be led to believe that there is a lesson to be
learned, and there is, but maybe not the one that I think.

I am not here for the reason I think I am.

If I find myself wondering why I'm going through this
experience, I remember when Jesus was walking with His
disciples and they came across the blind man. The disciples
asked why he was born blind. Jesus responded that he was
born blind to glorify God.

The reason I am having this experience is to glorify
God—to unite myself with God and to do God's work. The
chaos in my life is there so that I might either receive or give
a blessing. It is there so that I might experience more of God
in my life or help others experience more of God in their
lives.

The next time chaos confronts me, I remember I am not
in the situation for the reason I think I am. And I remember
to glorify God.

I am one with God and all creation.

30th Day of Lent

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

"But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well."
—Matthew 6:33

I am aware. Out of the chaos of yesterday, I am aware
that there has to be a better way. I am aware that there is
something more. I may look here and there. I may try to find
it in a relationship, in a job, in outside activities. I continue
to look.

Then I remember the words of Jesus. He said, we look
and we look, seeking the kingdom of heaven. We look to our
left. We look to our right. We look above us, and we look
below. We look to others. And all the time, the kingdom is
right here, right now, within me.

I am aware there is an answer—a better way. I choose
this day to seek the kingdom of heaven, and I know
everything will be taken care of, and all things will be
added unto me. It is reassuring that I am instructed only
to seek, and then I will find it. Not without, not above,
but within. I am aware.

Today I seek the kingdom ... within me.

I am one with God and all creation.

"For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land ...
where you will lack nothing."
—Deuteronomy 8:7, 9

It seems like such a long journey sometimes. I, too, feel
like the Israelites wandering aimlessly in the wilderness. I
don't know which way to go. Sometimes there appears to be
manna from heaven, and at other times, nothing.

At times, life seems to flow so smoothly, and at other
times, it seems to be one challenge after another. Why?

As I read the story of the Israelites, I uncover the secret.
When the children of Israel looked first to God, all things
worked out. When they chose to look away, they found
themselves wandering aimlessly about.

Today, even in the midst of my wilderness experience, I
choose to unite with the One Presence, One Power, and one
activity in my life—God, the good, omnipotent. I affirm: God
and I are one. Even in the midst of the most challenging
situation, I choose to face it and know God and I are one.

I now see direction in my experience, and I find that my
wandering in the wilderness has become a journey of peace
and beauty, for I have united with God.

I am one with God and all creation.

3-17-05

32nd Day of Lent

Thursday, March 17, 2005

"Look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting."
—John 4:35

It is spring! All around me I see the glory of God's creation.
The trees are beginning to bud with new life. The daffodils
are unfolding their beautiful colors. The grass is transforming
from the browns of winter to the green of a new experience.

After the restfulness of winter, I, too, am ready to move
forward into a new birth. I am ready to see life with new
eyes, to open my mind and heart to the wonderful sights and
sounds of God all around me.

I choose this day to experience the newness of life that
spring and the Easter season bring. I choose to let go of the bare
branches of the past and look to the budding of the new dawn.

Jesus told us to look to the fields that are already "ripe
for harvesting." Even as the new life is beginning to emerge
around me, 1 see a new world waiting. I choose this day to
see the dawn of health and love, of peace and joy. I choose to
see the world with new eyes and to be a positive influence on
those around me.

Today I celebrate the new birth that is beginning its resurrection,
and I go forth rejoicing.

I am one with God and all creation.

33rd Day of Lent

Friday, March 18, 2005

"Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."
—Luke 5:4

There must be something more. How often do I work
and work, and seem to come up empty? How often do I just
give up, wondering if this is all there is?

Peter and his friends were out fishing, and they came in
with empty nets. They were tired and frustrated. Jesus came
to them and sent them back out. He told them to throw their
nets in a different area and to throw them deeper. When they
did as they were instructed, the nets were so full of fish that
the nets almost broke (Luke 5:1-7).

Today I go deeper with my life. I make the decision to
take my prayer and meditation times and to know only my
unity with God. Today I go to my quiet times without
problems, without anxieties.

I take a deep breath. I relax. A second deep breath goes
deeper and deeper. I am at peace. A third deep breath and my
nets have been lowered. Now I wait on God.

In the stillness of the moment, my nets become full—full
of divine ideas, full of divine inspiration. I see only God in all
things. As I rest in this quietness, I find my heart is full, and
I prepare to go forth with God in my heart ... and my soul
rejoices!

I am one with God and all creation.

3-19-05

34th Day of Lent

Saturday, March 19, 2005

"Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these ...
you did it to me."
—Matthew 25:40

I am connected heart to heart, soul to soul, with all creation.
The divine atonement (at-one-ment) tells me that I am
connected to the Divine and to others.

As I become increasingly aware of the divine connection
with all things, I notice that my outlook begins to change.
Awareness of the oneness with all creation and with God
brings with it a feeling of peace and harmony, a sense of
unity.

When I see the smile of a child, I see the face of God.
When I smell a beautiful flower, I sense the presence of God.
When I deal with a troubling situation, I touch my faith in
God. I am one with all creation—the child, the flower, the
situation—and with God.

Through my oneness—my divine connection—I soon
realize that all things are possible. I can and do experience
the peace that passes all understanding, even in the midst of
chaos and turmoil.

Today I take the time to see the divine in and through all.
I acknowledge my at-one-ment with all creation.

I am one with God and all creation.

3-20-05

Palm Sunday March 20, 2005

Listen My Beloved,

When it seems the world around you is a burden too heavy
to carry,
Come to me in prayer.
I will lift you up, and I will be your strength and your courage.

When it seems your life is lacking what you dream of,
Come to me in prayer.
I will provide for you, and I will be the Source of all you
desire.

When it seems you are defeated and others turn against you,
Come to me in prayer.
I will make you triumphant, and I will be the Light
illuminating your path.

When it seems you are alone and without comfort,
Come to me in prayer.
I will always love you, and I will be the very breath you
breathe.

When it seems you have found a glorious garden filled with
your delight,
Come to me in prayer.
I will remind you of my many gifts, and I will be the joy
you seek.

35th Day of Lent

Monday, March 21, 2005

"And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you
are to drink, and do not keep worrying.... Instead, strive for his
kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well."
—Luke 12:29, 31

If there is something on my mind, it may be the last
thought before I fall asleep and the first thought my mind
considers upon waking. My imagination can create a hundred
different disasters that play out for every choice.

Yet, if I stop to consider that most of the things I have
worried about never happened, I can change my thoughts.
What if I release all those worried thoughts and trust God to
bring about the best for me? What if I focus my imagination
on creating positive outcomes for every situation in my life?

When I seek God's kingdom, I return in prayer to that
place within me, seeking only God. In the stillness of prayer,
I relax into the comfort of knowing that God provides for
me. Today I lay aside every worry that arises in my mind
and hold only those thoughts of positive outcomes available
through God's unlimited possibilities.

Trusting God's abundance, I overcome my own concerns
and ease to worry.

The power of God within me overcomes any limitation,
and I claim my good now.

3-22-05

36th Day of Lent

Tuesday, March 22, 2005

"I came into this world for judgment so that those who do not
see may see."
—John 9:39

There are times when I feel others have judged me wrongly.
I may judge and condemn myself, feeling guilt or shame. And I
have also judged others, seeking to be right. There were many
times in the Bible when people judged and condemned Jesus.

Yet Jesus taught us to forgive, to not judge and condemn.
Jesus, our Master Teacher, asked us to see with the eyes of our
hearts—to see that each one of us is a divine being on this
earthly path.

I can begin to see differently by seeing myself as a perfect
child of God. As a child of God, I am more than anyone's
opinion of me. In Spirit, I am created in the perfect image
and likeness of God, and I begin each day anew.

If there is someone I find myself judging, I open the eyes
of my heart so that I may see the child of God rather than the
human actions. I trust God to lead each person on his or her
own path.

As I open the eyes of my heart, I see beyond human judgment
and opinion to that perfect child of God. Seeing with the eyes of
God's love, I overcome the judgments of myself and others.

The power of God within me overcomes any limitation,
and I claim my good now.

3-23-05

37th Day Of Lent

Wednesday, March 23, 2005

"Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he
was born blind so that God's works might be revealed in him.'"
—John 9:3

If there is a condition in my life right now that appears
lacking, I may be blaming it on some past action. I may judge
that past action, done by me or someone else, as the cause
of my current health, relationship, or prosperity challenge. I
remind myself that as long as I keep my focus on the past, I
am powerless to change the present.

Today I move my focus to right here and right now. Just
as Jesus opened the eyes of the blind, I too can gain new
vision as I see the opportunity to demonstrate God's
wondrous power in my current circumstance. The past
cannot keep me from the gifts of this present moment.

In spring, the bulbs respond to the warmth and push up to
bloom. They have no concern for the snow and ice of the past
winter. Today I respond to the radiant light of God shining
brightly within me. I bloom as the healthy, abundantly blessed
child of a Divine Creator. I take time in meditation to release
the past and affirm that God is the source of all my good.

As I remain open to the healing power of God, I overcome
any past beliefs that limit my good.

The power of God within me overcomes any limitation,
and I claim my good now.

3-24-05

38th Day of Lent

Thursday, March 24, 2005

"For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard
seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,'
and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
—Matthew 17:20

The disciples followed Jesus, trying to learn from Him so
that they could also teach and heal others. Sometimes
they fell short of Jesus' expectations.

There are times when I question my own ability to learn a
new skill, to move into a new situation, or simply to stay
on my path of prayer and meditation.

Y
et each time I falter or find myself in a place of self doubt,
I remind myself of the mustard seed. This tiny seed grows
into an enormous bush, producing hundreds of seeds.

With my faith in God, I know that I have the potential to
grow far beyond my current abilities and beliefs. I remember
occasions when I accomplished my goal, and I focus on the
good that God and I have created. Prayer by prayer, my faith,
is strengthened. As I grow in faith, I move mountains.

I begin each day affirming my faith in the power of God
to overcome my doubts. For me, everything is possible.

The power of God within me overcomes any limitation,
and I claim my good now.

3-25-05

39th Day of Lent

Friday, March 25, 2005

"He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, 'Peace!
Be still!' Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm."
—Mark 4:39

At different times around the world, there are seasons of
storms. Thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and typhoons
have great power in our physical world.

Sometimes the storms that bring darkness and havoc are the
storms within my heart and mind. Change can occur suddenly,
without warning, and I may feel as though I were sitting in a
boat tossed at sea. I may feel powerless to affect the conditions
around me, and I may be afraid.

I know that in those moments I can turn in prayer and speak
the words, "Peace! Be still!" I speak the words to affirm
that the peace of God is always available to me, no matter
what storm is around me. I speak the words to calm my
thoughts and feelings so I can focus on the peace God
provides. I speak the words, trusting the power of God to
calm the storm in me and the storm around me.

Centered in God's peace, I can overcome any storm in my
life.

The power of God within me overcomes any limitation,
and I claim my good now.

"Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave
him strength."—Luke 22:43

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the schedule of my
days. It seems there is more work than I can possibly handle
in my life. I have responsibilities to my employer, my family
my church, and my friends. Even when I schedule time to
play, I find that exercise and recreation are just more tasks to
be completed.

When I feel caught up in the hectic pace of my world, it
is time to remember what Jesus did. Our great Way Shower
stopped at the busiest times in teaching and healing and
took time to pray. Often the Bible tells us He went to the
mountains or to the garden to pray. In these quiet times, He
was renewed and strengthened by the peace and power of God.

I may not be able to go far, but sitting quietly in a favorite
chair, at my work desk, or on a bench in the park, I find
a place of peace that is within me. Sitting a few moments or
longer in this silence, I feel refreshed in mind and restored in
energy.

Today I know that taking a moment to center in prayer
connects me to that Divine Power that can overcome any
weariness I feel.

The power of God within me overcomes any limitation,
and I claim my good now.

Listen, My Beloved,

Today is Easter! Arise anew and let your spirit soar to
new heights.

When you began these forty days of transformative steps,
you began a journey toward finding your sacred self.

As you continue your human experience, My signs and
wonders will continue to be revealed to you. Awaken to My
presence within you, and I will guide you in all ways.

We are forever one, My beloved. Turn within to the
Truth of your being and behold the sacred in yourself. I am
the light revealing the path before you. I am your strength
as you overcome any challenges.

I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Light. With Me,
you can do and be all things.

Each day, claim your divine heritage and arise anew.

New Thought Movement

The Practice of the Presence of God for Practical Purposes

http://www.websyte.com/alan/

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The New Thought movement--not to be confused with New Age--is a more than century-old, practically oriented spirituality that promotes fullness of all aspects of living, through constructive thinking, meditating, and other ways of realizing the presence of God. New Thought includes Unity, Religious Science (Science of Mind), Divine Science, and other groups and individuals. It was recognized as "The Religion of Healthy-Mindedness" by William James in The Varieties of Religious Experience. New Thought involves habitual God--good--aligned mental self-discipline. It has no one creed, but has affinities to idealistic philosophical traditions of all ages and places. It is mostly Christian in background, but has become allied to various religions. New Thought continues to develop conceptually, educationally, and organizationally.

Because New Thought affirms freedom of belief of each person, New Thoughters cover a broad range of theological positions, from traditional super naturalistic theism (God largely outside the world) at one extreme, to pantheism (all is God) at the other, with the newer panentheism (all is IN God) as a centrist, mediating position, rapidly gaining supporters in many theological quarters. In common with most other religions and spiritualities, most forms of New Thought take for granted the existence of continuing substance; however, the Process New Thought represented by the Anderson and Whitehouse writings linked below accepts a process understanding recognizing experience, process, living quanta of energy, and the interactions of these many minds, as the nature of reality. This Process New Thought presents process, panentheism, and a personalism recognizing God as the supreme, not anthropomorphically conceived, person as essential to an adequate New Thought. The latest expression of process thinking within New Thought is Process Science of Mind. An earlier non-pantheistic interpretation of New Thought was advocated by Horatio W. Dresser.

Foreword

150 Years of Healing is about a few great American leaders, men and women who have stepped out beyond the religious and medical expectations of their time and dared to live life in a new way. These men and women—from Phineas Quimby in 19th century New England to Louise Hay and Marianne Williamson in 20th Century Los Angeles—are the founders and leading practitioners of America’s unique religious tradition: New Thought. Their teaching and practice is simple: our current experience is the result of assumptions and beliefs that we have held in the past; our future is a product of what we are thinking today; and we can change those thoughts.

150 Years of Healing provides an overview of their lives and practice and goes on to provide current scientific evidence and theory that explains how and why what they have done works.

Foreword

For two thousand years, our Western European culture has developed in the context of the works and teachings of Yeshua ben Yosef of Nazareth, called by most, Jesus Christ. For most Europeans and Americans today, the miraculous healing's ascribed to Jesus are considered either mythical impossibilities arising out of the biographers’ ignorance and adoration, or the result of powers unique to Jesus as the One God, incarnate.

For a few hundred thousand people around the world, though, the words “these things and greater shall you do,” ascribed to Jesus in the New Testament, have been taken literally. For this group of people, the Gospel is more than the story of Jesus’ life; it is a manual for living—and healing.

This is the story of the founders and leaders of that movement, the people who have dared to heal themselves and others, living and teaching a New Thought about who we really are and what we are capable of doing.

More, this is an exploration of what they did and how they did it. It is an attempt to understand why hundreds of thousands of people experienced healing and relief from troubling symptoms in their presence. Recent scientific studies and theories shed useful insight on the processes and ideas that these people have used and taught over the last 150 years—insight that may provide a model for therapy in the future.

Divine Science

http://divinescience.com/beliefs/whatwebelievebyEH.htm

What We Believe

We believe in God, the Living Spirit Almighty;
one indestructible, absolute, and self-existent Cause.
This One manifests Itself in and through all creation
but is not absorbed by Its creation.
The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.
We believe in the incarnation of the Spirit in everyone
and that all people are incarnations of the One Spirit.
We believe in the eternality, the immortality,
and the continuity of the individual soul,
forever and ever expanding.
We believe that heaven is within us
and that we experience it to the degree that we become conscious of it.
We believe the ultimate goal of life to be a complete emancipation
from all discord of every nature,
and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.
We believe in the unity of all life,
and that the highest God
and the innermost God is one God.
We believe that God is personal to all who feel this in dwelling Presence.
We believe in the direct revelation of Truth
through the intuitive and spiritual nature of the individual,
and that any person may become a revealer of Truth
who lives in close contact with the indwelling God.
We believe that the Universal Spirit, which is God,
operates through a Universal Mind,
which is the Law of God;
and that we are surrounded by the Creative Mind
which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.
We believe in the healing of the sick through the Power of this Mind.
We believe in the control of conditions through the Power of this Mind.
We believe in the eternal Goodness,
the eternal Loving-kindness,
and the eternal Givingness of Life to all.
We believe in our own soul, our own spirit, and our own destiny;
for we understand that the life of all is God.
