8-23-07
It is a beautiful day out. The plum tree is loaded and the plums are golden ripe... and delicious. Tomatoes, cukes, onions, and strawberries are ripe for picking. Grapes soon. Flowers bloom everywhere... butterflies, bees and birds flit and buzz about.

For Juanita and I living here, it is a daily wonder... we witness the miracle of life... over and over. We often ask ourselves and each other how did God and his Angels dream all of this up. And our awareness of His wonders is so limited... microscopic... our praise and thankfulness, however, is enormous.

We thank you Lord and Your Angel Hosts for your unlimited creations and the joy of being witnesses.

"Get out of Dodge..."

8-25-07
The above title is just an old Cowboy phrase that we used to say when we were kids. When we got caught
in some mischief someone would whisper, "I think we better get out of Dodge."

And I'm thinking that it's a good reply to the present day "world view" mischief, "It's time to get out of Dodge..." Time for a change... a time to move on to new things... or a new way of doing things.

"Yep, time to get out of Dodge." Get out of the city... get out of our old ways of thinking... get out of ourselves and help other people.

Anyway... looking back on my life I can trace the plan or pattern of events that has led me (or driven me) to where I am today. It seems that at least some of us had agreed to do certain tasks before we incarnated on earth.

The problem, for our guardian angels, is to guide and awaken us to our agreed upon task. All newborn babies have amnesia concerning their life before birth into this world... so they remember nothing of any prior agreements.

The guiding of a person to their task is kinda like a bunch of cowboys back on the ranch pushing a small herd of wild cattle to a distant corral or holding pen.

In the spring the cattle are wild and skitterish [I know this is not a proper word, but I like better than skittish.] after a long free winter in the scrub brush. They don't want to be herded or directed at all in any direction.

They will break away and dash into some impenetrable tangle of growth or down into some deep ravine where the sun can't even reach. Stubborn, bullheaded critters... you would like to hit them over the head with a 2x4 if you had one.

Well, that's probably what our guardian angels think about us... stubborn bullheaded people... and we probably should be thankful that there is a limited supply of 2x4's in heaven.

Even if you are aware of spiritualism and seances your guardian angels cannot just come out and say, "you know you have a task to do here... you are to write a journal about spiritual enlightenment" because that would interfere with our God given right of "freewill." It's against their law for them to tell you.

So the awakening process to our task is kinda like herding wild cattle, lots of side trips, dashing about, hit and miss, frustration and disgust. How can this critter be so dumb? Where's that 2x4. :-)

And all of this direction (read "herding") must be done with LOVE... some "tough love" to be sure, but no 2x4's. You can be maneuvered into self inflicted mental pain, accidents involving physical pain, deaths of family, friends and loved ones, illnesses, mental illness and mental breakdowns, defeats and setbacks, loss of jobs and friends, trauma in any number of flavors... anything to jolt you out of your complacency if you have a spiritual task to complete.

These wake-up calls are often very unpleasant. See Paul Levy's experience...
and my own experience below:

***

I want to back up here a little and tell you about my dis-ease. I knew I was becoming very ill so I went home to stay with my folks. I took long walks along the river, helped around the place a bit, and ate my mother's good cooking. No matter what I did I had this nagging feeling that something was very wrong with me.

I was there two or three weeks, when one night after going to bed, I said a very sincere prayer that ended with, "Dear Lord I will do anything to make my life right." I felt like I began to float up off of the bed, maybe two or three feet. Then all of a sudden I was slammed down on the bed and my body was on fire from head to foot.

It's hard for me to relate how that burning felt. It was terrible... like when you burn your finger or hand very badly... it felt like that all over my body. I was on fire, and there was a great pressure on my face, like something was trying to push my face out the back of my head.

I felt like I had shackles on my wrists and ankles. They were very tight, to the point of pain and they confined my movements. The next day I could only shuffle around and my hands shook so bad I couldn't drink a glass of water. My eyes were so out of focus that I could hardly see. I was very sick and very frightened.

The doctors came and went: an MD several times, a chiropractor a few times, and a psychiatrist once. None of them had any idea what was wrong with me. I finally admitted myself into the local hospital. All kinds of tests were run with no definite answers. All they could find was some kind of abnormality in my blood.

After the tests were run, I don't know how long, the doctor there began to give me medication. Every time he gave something I became worse. After a few days of that, I fumbled around and got myself dressed, shuffled to the front desk and checked myself out. The doctor was furious. He ranted and raved the whole time the nurse was calling my mother to come get me.

I didn't know it at the time that my body was in a extreme cleansing crisis. I later read about a cleansing crisis and the nourishment and elimination cycles of the body. The body is nourished, when you eat, through the gastronomical system, mucus membranes and blood; and when you stop eating or fast the body switches to the elimination cycle and cleanses the body through the same systems: the gastronomical system, mucus membranes and blood.

An extreme cleansing crisis only activates when a person is so polluted with toxins that the body is near death or is about to develop some severe chronic dis-ease.

I didn't know anything about the above and when I started having hallucinations, I was really scared. I didn't know that, "what goes in—must come out", if it is toxic or poisonous to the body.

So when the residue of the peyote, I had taken with Indian friends, finally came out and I started seeing and hearing things "that weren't there", I thought I was going crazy. Then I was really, really scared!

By this time the doctors had given up and I had given up on the doctors!
This was when I realized that if a cure to my condition were to be found... I would have to find it.

Well, after a few weeks of terror, the burning calmed down to a dull roar and my shackles loosened a bit, I thought I was well enough to drive a car a little ways. I found the address of a local health food store out in the country and I drove very carefully out there. I needed information... books to cure myself.

I looked all around and over my shoulder to make sure no one was watching me go in that place, only kooks and weirdoes went in a place like that. The prevailing "red neck" opinion and prejudice of that period in Eastern Oregon.

I finally found Arnold Ehret's, Mucusless Diet and Healing System, about eating a natural raw food diet and fasting to cure dis-ease... it made sense to me.

I immediately tried it. In 30 days I felt so much better... I just couldn't believe it... after being so very ill for more than a year. It was like walking out of a cloud of fog.

In three months, I was up and around all day, full of energy, and in six months, I felt better than I had in the past twenty years. I was a new man... completely cured. And it didn’t cost me a thing ... except for the price of food I ate.

***

Looking back at this terrible experience of a nervous breakdown-cleansing crisis-spiritual awakening I see it as one of most positive experiences of my life. It took the pain and shock of this experience to break the hold that the "world view" had on me.

Life is a spiritual experience... you may think it is something else... in fact the "world view" tells you that life is "getting ahead" owning a really nice house, latest model car, stylish clothes, eating out, sleeping in... but the fact still remains these are worldly things and have nothing to do with a spiritual life.

Life is a spiritual experience... in which to seek the truth and apply it to one's life... to help your self and others ascend by acts of kindness and compassion.
Having nice things is perfectly alright... it's just that living a spiritual life is a
100% life... a dedicated life... with little time to accumulate worldly goods.

Seek the Kingdom of God first and all else will be added unto you... live your life to your highest spiritual light and everything you desire will come to you.
Just remember... God is all there is... and you are part of that God... and anything you want can be had just for the asking. God is all there is.

DO you sometimes wonder why you are where you are, doing what you are doing? Do you ever have doubts in your mind? Seek deep within your heart, and answer these questions honestly. Then, if you feel you are still one of those Doubting Thomases, take time to be still, to seek enlightenment from within, and find out where you fit into the whole vast scheme. I can assure you that it is not by chance that you are where you are. Life may have been very tough for you. You may have had to go through many tests and trials. You may even have been plunged into the fiery furnace. You may be sure there is a reason for all of it: so that all the dross might be burnt away and nothing but the pure gold—the I AM within —remains, and so that I can work in and through the I AM to bring about My wonders and glories for all to see.

If you have lost your way... and your life no longer seems worth living... pray that God's spiritual fire descend upon you. It is terrible—terrible... pain almost beyond enduring... but it will burn away the darkness and the sin... and return your life to you purified and new.

I have been through this fire and it's agony, so I know from first hand experience what it is like... you may think of killing yourself to end the pain...
but that will only prolong it... have faith and pray, a lot!.. pray a lot, and eventually the flames will die down... when all of the anger and unkindness has been cleansed from you body and Soul. Pete

Juanita read this and asked me, "How long did you burn like that?" I said, "I don't really remember for sure... it was so awful... night and day for 3 weeks... maybe a month." Juanita gasped and said,"I thought maybe through that night or the next day... it must have been terrible." "It was, at the time it seemed like an eternity... I asked that my life be made right... and the realization of that prayer was fire. I scribbled a few words in a diary each day... I wish I could find it.

LAKOTA: VISION QUEST (CRYING FOR A VISION)

"Animation of Indian Maiden Spreading Dreams"

For generations, the vision quest has been an extremely important part of Lakota life and ritual. Until recent times, all young men sought this experience, sometimes as young as 10 or 11 and never later than their early teens.

Later in life, men would often return for another vision quest when seeking guidance in the affairs of life. Women would vision quest too, but not as regularly as men. The practice, though not as prevalent, has never been abandoned by the people and is still carried on today.

Besides the young, who vision quest at the beginning of the path to adulthood, a person might choose to cry for a vision in order to better understand another vision they already had, or to prepare for the Sundance, or ask a favor from Wakan Tanka, or as a thank you to Wakan Tanka for gifts received or simply to realize a closeness with the Great Spirit.

When it is time for a vision quest, the seeker brings a pipe to a holy man to ask for help and counsel. If the holy man thinks this is a good idea and agrees to help, a day is set aside. Often times questors were accompanied by a holy man or guide, sometimes they went alone.

On the day of the vision quest, the holy man and assistants go into the sweatlodge with the person making the quest. The object is purification. The one seeking a vision or the holy man would have already selected a place that was rugged and remote that would lend itself to spiritual thought without distraction.

After the sweat, the holy man and assistants prepare a place while the seeker waits. A rectangular place, approximately four- to six-feet wide and six- to eight-feet long, is cleared and a pole with tobacco offerings is put at the center.

Other smaller poles are placed at the four directions, with offerings and the representative colors of the four directions tied to each of them. Sage is spread near the center pole as a "bed" for the seeker rest on when tired.

When the place is readied, the other leave and the seeker arrives with pipe, buffalo robe and offering sticks, praying as he approaches. He goes to the center pole and faces west, and then walks to the pole that has been placed in the west. Here he prays again with his pipe in his hands.

He then returns to the center pole and goes to the north and repeats the process. Same with the east and the south, taking as much time as needed in any or all directions. When finished with all four, he starts prayer again, all day and into the night.

Sometimes he may just stand and face the Sun, other times he may sit and meditate, facing east. During these times the pipe is placed at the west end of the rectangular space as a point of focus.

The seeker may sleep on the bed of sage, with his head at the center pole, but the entire duration of the vision quest he does not eat or drink. Many vision quests last just a day and a night, but others seeking a vision may stay two, three or even four days. Rarely is a quest longer than four days and four nights.

The idea is for the seeker to pray hard from the heart and pay attention to the world around him. If he does, messages from Wakan Tanka will come to him.Sometimes a message or instructions come through nature in the form of an animal or bird.

Nothing should be discounted as the Wakan Tanka can, and does, speak through all things. And generally some physical representation of the vision or message (feather, fur, rock) is collected and placed in the seeker's medicine bag to ensure the power of the vision would stay with the individual to remind, protect or guide him.

When the time is up, the holy man and his assistants come to get the seeker and they all return to the sweatlodge. During the sweat, the seeker tells them of what he saw and heard, being careful not to leave anything out.

Sometimes, a vision does not come, and that is reported too. When finished, the holy man prays and gives thanks to Wakan Tanka for all things given and for having pity on the person seeking the vision.

Vision quests are not generally discussed openly, but sometimes the details come out long after, only to amaze and astound the listener of the tale.

THE AMERICAN DREAM...

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire:
Changing Conceptions of the American Dream

[This morning I asked myself, "What do most people in America want out of life?" I really didn't/don't know... and this article doesn't answer the question...
but I found it is really interesting, so I'm passing it along to you.]

Traditionally, Americans have sought to realize the American dream of success, fame and wealth through thrift and hard work. However, the industrialization of the 19th and 20th centuries began to erode the dream, replacing it with a philosophy of "get rich quick".

A variety of seductive but elusive strategies have evolved, and today the three leading ways to instant wealth are large-prize television game shows, big-jackpot state lotteries and compensation lawsuits.

The success of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire's" ability to capitalize on the American Dream has spawned a series of copycat shows. "Greed," Twenty-one," and, perhaps most interestingly, "Who Wants to Marry a MultiMillionaire," have utilized the same basic, capitalist American urge for hoards of money.

The theme of the latter show is especially amazing. On February 15, 2000, Rick Rockwell, an independent real estate investor, picked from among fifty female contestants who agreed to actually marry a "multimillionaire" if chosen.

The show's "winner," an emergency room nurse named Darva Conger claimed that, she simply wanted a free getaway to Las Vegas, where the show was broadcast, and to "be on TV and wave to my family and friends." "It was just a lark," insisted Conger, I "was just in complete shock" when I won.

When Matt Lauer of the Today Show pressed her, insisting that money must have been a major factor in participating on the show, Conger claimed it was not, even though she walked away with a free Caribbean honeymoon, a $35,000 engagement ring, and an Isuzu Trooper.

The prizes totaled some $100,000. Even though Conger has vehemently denied charges that money was a key motivation, and had her marriage with Rockwell annulled, she has since posed for Playboy Magazine and earned what some report is upwards of $400,000.

" Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and similar game shows are only the latest craze in capitalizing on the American Dream. Even more well known, and often more lucrative are state run lotteries. All one needs is "A Buck and a Dream," boasts the New York Lottery.

Just as in the game shows, the lottery focuses on the hope of easy money with minimal effort. One does not need to work hard in order to choose a series of numbers.

In the lottery scenario, one works for a living only until they hit that big Lotto or Powerball score. The Illinois Lottery's advertisement in a Chicago ghetto encouraged, "This could be your ticket out."

Thus lotteries are free to spend hundreds of millions on what is often disingenuous advertising specifically designed to manipulate people's quest for the American Dream.

As one author noted, "the lottery, it is said, exploits people's yearnings for a better life, offering them a sucker bet wrapped in promotional hype. "Another writer criticized that, "our government shamelessly panders to dreams."

They advise people, many of them poor, that the lottery is a good way to get money… If there ever was a get-rich-quick scam, this is it — perpetrated by the government.

The lotteries purposely mislead players about their chance of striking it rich. Yet because lotteries are state entities they are not bound by the same requirements to which private businesses must comply.

The "rags to riches" legend has and continues to be a cornerstone of the American Dream. The traditional message taught that through hard work, frugality, and self-sacrifice one could achieve financial success and social mobility.

If game shows and lotteries have seemingly opened a path to fulfilling the American Dream, so too has the proverbial "million dollar injury." Litigation is as American as apple pie, though it does not leave so sweet a taste in the mouth of most Americans.

Indeed, many view the legal profession with disdain, especially personal injury lawyers whose ubiquitous "have you been involved in an accident? You may be entitled to compensation" advertisements encourage the public to believe that easy money can be had.

The operation of the tort system is akin to a lottery. Most crucial criteria for payment are largely controlled by chance:

(1)whether one is lucky" enough to be injured by someone whose product or conduct can be proved faulty;

(2) whether the party's insurance limits or assets are sufficient to promise an award or settlement commensurate with losses and expenses;

(3)whether one's own innocence of faulty conduct can be proved; and

(4) whether one has the good fortune to retain a lawyer who can exploit all the variables before an impressionable jury, including graphically portraying whatever pain one has suffered.

Equating such a scenario to achieving the American Dream may be viewed as extremely strange at best. Yet the similarity between game shows, lotteries, and tort litigation is not as farfetched as one might think. In all three situations the desired end is a trip to the bank with a fat check.

Ben Franklin counseled industry, Abraham Lincoln sang the praises of the northern labor system, and Horatio Alger instilled hope in generations of Americans. All three helped to establish basic guidelines for success in a land of infinite possibility.

God is all there is. God is all spirit and all matter... everything. God is One. You are an aware self conscious part of that Oneness. You are one with all spirit and all matter. You are one with the Oneness of God. You are one with everything.

When you look out of your eyes, you look out at yourself... your physical body. When you close your eyes and look inward you see the images of your spirit... or the chaos of your conscious mind.

With physical purity you can see the same thing with your eyes open or closed.
It is toxic matter that clouds and closes off spiritual vision. And with both physical and mental purity you will soon realize your oneness with all things... other people, animals, birds, trees, plants, flowers, insects, and weeds.

You will see that all things breath or expand and contract with the rhythm of Universal Life. Everything is alive... even inanimate objects... they all breath and have their being in God. I have seen and experienced this natural rhythm many times. Cleanse yourself and spiritual vision is yours for the asking... open your eyes.

God's Relationship With Us

I was aware of a strange throbbing in the atmosphere. It was rather like the beat of a heart.

I heard the words: 'It is the beat of the universal heart. Get into rhythm with it and become one with all life.'

The Inner Content or ‘Spirit’ Within Matter.
'Electromagnetism PLUS information' best describes universal energy.

"Symbol of Ancient Wisdom"

Scientists today cannot measure life force and as a result claim there is no content in Homeopathic remedies. In spite of this damning conclusion they are freely available and results prove their effectiveness.

An interesting experiment helps to clarify the subtle nature of life force and its ability to respond to positive vibrations. Water taken from the same source was put into two glasses, connected to a MRI [magnetic resonance imaging] and then tested.

The samples proved to be identical. Next the water in one glass was blessed and tested again but this time the ‘inner content’ of the blessed water was different although the scientists could not define the difference.

The experiment proves the act of blessing—or loving—transforms water yet scientists have not pursued this revolutionary information. Today however, Japanese Masaru Emoto’s research confirms water responds to both positive and negative vibrations and has memory.

***

"Symbol of Three Spirals"

The Three spirals can be seen engraved on rocks at Newgrange. They have also been found in other areas of the world

The ancient wisdom’s claim that life force consists of energy plus information makes sense for every seed carries the information needed to govern its growth.

Another enlightening experiment helps to confirm the theory. Plants, grown under the same conditions, were placed on a table and connected to a MRI. Then eight volunteers were asked to walk around the plants one at a time and one of them was asked to burn a plant with a cigarette. As soon as the plant was burnt its extreme agitation showed on the screen.

The same experiment was repeated three weeks later but this time no one was asked to burn a plant. When the man who had burnt the plant passed by it, the same agitation appeared on the screen but this time all the other plants joined in!

The experiment reveals plants respond to negative vibrations but even more astonishing have memory. This tells us all nature can not only respond to the information governing their growth but also, to a lesser or greater degree, display an element of consciousness.

I am feeling very optimistic this morning. I feel that "things" are just as they should be... granted they are a "mess," but I have this feeling that there is great promise for the near future. People seem to be becoming more aware of the light... and are seeking the light more every day. The light of truth.

God is within us and is helping us to realize His presence and the His truth.

Precious Truth:

Leo Tolstoy had this to say about truth...

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
(John 3:19-21)

We live in a deceitful world. So much of what is said and done is designed to obscure the truth. Often this is done to gain personal advantage. At times we hide the truth out of shame or fear. Whatever the reason, we can all fall prone to fooling ourselves and others into believing something that is simply not true.

Sadly, I’ve seen this happen even in the body of Christ, the Church. We can go through the motions of faith not so much out a sincere desire to grow in our relationship with the Lord, but out of a desperate desire to hide from our sin. Religion can be the best cover for an unholy life.

If we are to grow as individual believers and as a faith community, we have to come out of the darkness of our deception and let the light of Truth (Christ) shine in us and through us. Truth is a precious commodity. It can set us free to more fully love God and others as we love ourselves.

KISSING THE MOTHER

"Kissing the Mother"

The soft layers under her feet
Sweet smells, earthy tones
Gnarly plants, sage greens, fuchsia branches
Smooth stone surfaces scattered as if carefully placed.

She walks on the surface
With each step, a connection fulfilled
Down into the center of Her being
And back up into the swiftly moving human form.

Why are you barefoot, my child?
I dance upon the dirt and rocks
So that I may have the sacred chance
To be kissing the Mother
In every step I take.

9-17-07 There is a feeling of fall in the air this morning... some leaves are beginning to turn. Transformation. Mother Earth's seasons, butterflies, the queen bee, water-steam-ice and hopefully us... accepting the changes that are upon us.

There is no way to fight or avoid this natural spiritual process. Transformation is coming... read your sign, related to yourself, others, the world and beyond.
Accept the change when it is presented to you... quietly... guiding others by your example.

Have faith and know that, "The sky is not falling," but Heaven is settling to the face of the earth and to the center of your heart. For years you (and I) have
prayed, "Thy kingdom come," and now our prayers are being answered.

The lower plains of heaven are touching down and beginning to materialize right around our homes... in the country. When you catch glimpses of their beautiful-peaceful reality say a prayer of thanksgiving and welcome what you witness.

The lowest plains of heaven are the Happy Hunting Grounds of the American
Indians. The Indians are going to return and teach us how to love, cherish and restore the earth. Years ago when I wandered barefoot in the mountains an Inner Voice told me every day, "You're going to see a lot more Indians, soon."

Do not panic!!! They are just people, peaceful people, here to help us. (The same as the extraterrestrials... they are here to help us.) When you see them,
however vague, go to them and welcome them... set out food, water and firewood.

If it is winter, wrap blankets in plastic and set them out in a dry place. Clear spaces for them to setup their teepees and other shelters. If you welcome the Indians they will stay with you and protect you from the chaos their return will cause.

Keep an open mind! What I am telling you is not a fantasy... it is a coming reality if you live in the country. My Inner Voice confirms this information... God does not lie. My job is to tell you the truth. Be skeptical, but be ready, protect your sanity with Love... and enjoy the new reality of Heaven coming to Earth. And remember... all things are possible with God.

Juanita read this entry about Indians appearing and said, "How do you think these Indians will get here?" I said, "I have no idea... but I doubt they will ride in on horseback.":-)

I said it will probably all happen quite naturally... just like in my grandparents day... the Indians will come down our driveway (probably in a pickup truck) and ask if they can set up camp in our barnyard for a while.

"You're saying that these Indians from the Happy Hunting Grounds of Heaven will look just like us or like other Indians that we see around town." "Yes."
"I think they will first appear in Indian communities and reservations and with the help of the local Indians they will spread out into the country."

"Indian Village"

"Their job will be to help people realize a peaceful transformation. They will protect people ready and willing to accept the radical changes that transformation will bring from the crazy behavior of others that have little sensitivity or understanding."

"What you are saying is that the move toward transformation is organized." "Yes, loosely organized on earth with thousands of individuals working independently and hundreds of organizations working more or less in coordination and cooperation."

"Many people realize, have been inspired, or given information that we are in a unique position in time and space for this current transformation to take place. And that we will not be in such a position again for thousands of years. We must make it work... NOW... or go back to the drawing board and a long drawn out age of spiritual darkness."

"In Heaven, millions of Angels are working in organization around the clock to bring about the ascension of the Earth and and Her people. The Earth's Angel Host are very short handed because of the rising burden of receiving the spirits of soldiers killed in war, or by Aids and abortion."

"I pray that God Bless all the people, both mortal and angels, that are working so hard for the Transformation of Earth and Her People. By the Grace of God we will succeed and God's Kingdom will come and Heaven will be again established on Earth. Amen."

I was born and raised in Eastern Oregon. The last Indian war party to ride out in that country was 1906, the year my mother was born. The day after the alarm went out an old Indian rode into my Grandparents yard and asked if he could set up camp in their barnyard.

He didn't say anything but they knew he was there to protect them. My Grandparents always allowed the Indians to cross and camp on their land... fed them, gave them old clothes, blankets and no-longer used utensils.

The Indians were very poor, ragged and depressed after being beaten in battle many times and forced onto reservations. Most white people hated and feared them because the Indians at one time or another had killed a family member or close friend.

Juanita and I will welcome the Indians as old friends when the come to ask to camp in our barnyard. May God bless all those that work toward a peaceful transformation.

5 AM. Up and about. Tea. Did some net surfing and stumbled onto this great crop circle. Impressive piece of art work whether human or extraterrestrial.

"3D Crop Circle"

We are all one. The God spirit within each can express great beauty. The message is not in the who or why but in the beauty of the circle itself. It is obviously a work inspired by great love... and whether it is a hoax (human)
or real (extraterrestrial)... it is a thing of beauty.

So it's all done with planks and bits of string.

Microfinance: Making small loans to poor people to help them lift themselves out of poverty.

People of the Web Yahoo! News
Three young entrepreneurs found an easier way to raise millions for struggling businesses almost anywhere in the world. But don’t call it a handout -- it’s a loan. And, it’s funded by everyday people, like you, $25 at a time.

By KEVIN SITES, TUE AUG 21, 5:27 PM PDT

In their office in San Francisco's Mission District, Matt and Jessica Flannery and Premal Shah work with the fervor and techno savvy of an Internet startup aiming for an IPO. But they aren't chasing the cash for themselves.

Matt and Jessica Flannery and Premal Shah bring a youthful vibe to the world of microfinance.

They're doing it for Esther Egbulu in Nigeria, a mother of six who wants an $800 loan to stock her shop with frozen chickens and turkey, or 31-year-old Choeun Sonin, who's requesting $1,000 to purchase a motorcycle taxi — just two of 15,000 entrepreneurs from 36 countries that their company, Kiva, has already helped.

Kiva, which means "unity" in Swahili, is a lending organization with a twist: Anyone with a bit of money and an Internet connection can step forward as a microlender to assist struggling third-world entrepreneurs get out of poverty.

After logging in, you can scroll through profiles of entrepreneurs, descriptions of their businesses, and the loan amounts they're requesting. Once you've decided who you want to lend to, you choose how much to lend, starting at as little as $25. (Individual lenders can fund an entire loan, but most of Kiva's loans are funded by multiple lenders.)

Funds are distributed to entrepreneurs through local non-profit microfinance partners in specific countries. In Nigeria, Esther Egbulu wants an $800 loan to stock her shop with frozen chickens.

The key is that the company is based on loans, not donations. "You're fundamentally connecting with someone else in a way that's based on mutual dignity, not this supplicant-benefactor relationship that you often see in philanthropy," says Premal.

There are some differences from traditional lending. Kiva loans require no collateral and they are zero interest. PayPal (Premal's former employer) processes the transactions without any fees.

Premal says the average loan request is about $650 and the average lender usually funds three different entrepreneurs at $25 each. Eighty percent of the lenders come from the U.S., 10% from Canada, and the remainder from the rest of the world.

Kiva says entrepreneurs pay back their loans an incredible 99% of the time — a default rate unheard of at traditional financial institutions. (The Kiva team expects the default rate to increase to 5% as more borrowers complete the loan cycle.) And according to Premal, most lenders reinvest their money in other entrepreneurs after a loan is paid back.

Kiva's operational costs are covered by donations from lenders. The company does not take a commission from the loans facilitated on the site.

Matt and Jessica Flannery created Kiva after discovering different career goals in a premarriage counseling course.

The way Kiva was founded is almost as interesting as what it's accomplishing. When Matt and Jessica attended a pre-marriage counseling session, they discovered their career goals could keep them apart. Jessica wanted to go to Africa to study microfinance; Matt was headed to Silicon Valley.

"We sort of just thought, ‘Well, we're supposed to be together. This will work itself out,'" Jessica recalls.

Things did work out, but in a way they hadn't first imagined. Shortly after they were married, Matt went to work for TiVo and Jessica went to Africa to work with a microfinance organization.

After visiting Jessica in Africa, Matt got the idea that perhaps what she was doing, microfinance, and what he was doing, high tech, could be combined — using the Internet to connect lenders and entrepreneurs.

They tested the concept on friends and family, spamming their wedding list and raising more than $3,000 for a handful of small businesses in Uganda.

Now Kiva has loans totaling $10 million.

Matt, Jessica and Premal credit their corresponding strengths for Kiva's success so far: Matt's technological know-how, Premal's salesmanship and Jessica's heart.

Kiva's president Premal Shah says corruption is a reality and he hopes transparency on Kiva's site will boost lenders confidence in microfinance.
Kiva faces new challenges as its base of lenders and entrepreneurs expands.

Ensuring that money actually funds business is one problem. For instance, a borrower in Cambodia used a loan to fund a family wedding. But a Kiva volunteer monitoring loans in Cambodia discovered what happened then blogged about it — on Kiva's own website.

"We know that corruption exists," says Premal. "We are adamant about exposing it on our website." Transparency, he says, is the organization's goal.

In the grand scheme of things, $10 million in loans might seem like a small dent in world poverty, but Kiva's founders are thinking big.

"In year five we're looking at anywhere between $150 million to $280 million," says Premal — potentially enough to move the GDP of an entire nation at some point.

For now, it's enough to change the lives of 15,000 struggling entrepreneurs — and perhaps those making the loans, as well.

9-24-07 Woke as usual at 5 AM but was so cold I stayed in bed and read until six. Checked the temperature 25°F. We have been covering the tomatoes with a plastic sheet for about 2 weeks... paid off last night. Light frost.

What happens most years is that we have a frost or two in mid-September and then the weather clears and we have Indian summer (and nice ripe tomatoes) until the first of November.

We have not had any rain for some time. The woods are too dry to build a fire in the wood stove so we are getting by with an electric heater. It will rain soon and then I will be able to build a big fire in the morning to take the chill off the cabin.

I have been recently inspired to research (keyword) "devils that inhabit the human body." And/or devils the hover near the body and influence it from the unseen. Inner and outer devils so to say.

I don't even like to think about the possibility that there are such things as devils or demons... but there is a lot of human behavior that suggests that they might exist.

Why is that when some people pick up a knife they are immediately prompted
by an inner voice to stab someone?

Why did a fellow worker pull the trigger on a 3/4" drill motor when I was tightening a bit in the chuck. That action could have very well have mangled my hand, at least broke some fingers. I was lucky that the drill motor was set in the rotation that threw my hand aside.

Why and how are people prompted by inner voices to commit suicide or murder or any violence? Where does that stuff come from???

Last night and this morning I reread some of Book I of the Essene Gospel of Peace. Jesus says, "...When the Son of Man resists the Satan that dwells in
him
and does not his will, in the same hour are found the Mother's angels there..." 12:2 Allegory or literal?

"And all these things do you carry in yourselves; and so the word and the power of God enter not into you, because all manner of evil and all manner of abominations have their dwelling in your body and your spirit." 14:1

From the Oahspe Bible: (Large Green Edition)

78-10. And as one spirit returned and fastened itself on a mortal, so did another and another, till hundreds and thousands of spirits dwelt in one corporeal body, oft driving hence the natural spirit I gave in the time of conception; and these mortals knew it not; and they became void of direct purpose because of the confusion of soul, and they were worthless on the earth.

Abortion... not a pleasant subject... I hope my new page will shed some light on immorality of using birth control pills and provide an alternative contraceptive method.

The main point is this: "Most birth control pills on the market have anywhere from four to ten percent chance of allowing "breakthrough" ovulation. This means that women using these pills have a four to ten percent chance of becoming pregnant and aborting their tiny babies without even knowing it."

Now to address this beautiful morning. Here is a Morning Prayer from, The Living Word, by Eileen Caddy.

Here we are at the beginning of another day
We dedicate this day to You
We dedicate our thoughts and efforts
To the bringing forth of Your good.

You are our strength
Our life
Our guiding light
You are the power in us
That perfects everything that concerns us
You are the love in us
That harmonises every situation
That forgives every hurt.

All through this day
We will remember
That we live and move and have our being
In You.

We will entrust all our plans
Our hopes
And dreams to You
Knowing that in You
All things find their right fulfilment.

We are aware
Of Your loving presence throughout the day
And know that in that state of awareness of You
We are filled with love, strength, peace and joy.

We ask that You use us
As you will
To bring about Your wonders and glories.

I am on the path. I am the Christ... I am one with God. For God is all there is. Pete

May 2004 through the Present - Predictions. [Prophecies]

http://www.raptureready.com/rap2.html

The Purpose For This Index...

The Rapture Index has two functions: one is to factor together a number of related end time components into a cohesive indicator, and the other is to standardize those components to eliminate the wide variance that currently exists with prophecy reporting.

The Rapture Index is by no means meant to predict the rapture, however, the index is designed to measure the type of activity that could act as a precursor to the rapture.

You could say the Rapture index is a Dow Jones Industrial Average of end time activity, but I think it would be better if you viewed it as prophetic speedometer. The higher the number, the faster we're moving towards the occurrence of pre-tribulation rapture.

Rapture Index of 100 and Below: Slow prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 100 to 130: Moderate prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 130 to 160: Heavy prophetic activity
Rapture Index above 160: Fasten your seat belts
