"Seeking the Light"
Seeking the Light

I am the Christ... I am one with God. Easy to say, sing or chant... but maintaining that awareness every moment of the day is another thing. To be aware you must be present... you must be right there every moment... in the here and now.

Being in the moment, every moment seems like a great deal of concerted effort. And it does take some effort to gently discipline the mind to be continually aware of the moment... the here and now. But the task itself is simple... when you catch your mind wandering you remind it of who you are and what you are: I am the Christ... I am one with God.

To be aware you must be conscious... conscious of yourself and your surroundings. When you are asleep you are unconscious, when you read a book for pleasure you are unconscious, when you watch TV or a movie you are unconscious, when you play games you are unconscious, when you are at a party or talking to other people you are usually unconscious. So we spend most of our life in a state of unconscious awareness of who and what we really are.

The goal of being continually aware is to ascend to a state of realization that you are what you say you are: The Christ... one with God. It is a matter of perspective. Retraining the conscious mind to identify yourself as the Christ rather than the ego persona i.e. Joe/Jane Smith, laid on you by the world view of your family and their friends.

It takes continual practice. I am the Christ... I am one with God. To recondition the conscious mind you must continually remind yourself of this truth. You must firmly imbed this idea in your conscious and subconscious mind. You must believe it and know that it is true. You must wrap the mantle of God around you and be the Christ.

To accomplish this transformation it is easiest if you withdraw from the environment of your previous life as Joe/Jane Smith, to a quiet retreat in the mountains where you will be free to communicate with your Inner Voice continually. Your Inner Voice... the voice of God .

Surrender yourself completely to God and do His/Her will. Follow God's guidance for whatever He requires. Most of the time you will have freewill... but when God calls you to do something... act immediately. Have complete faith... no matter how crazy some called for action may seem... God does not error. God works in wonderful and wondrous ways, beyond man's understanding... act, and then you will understand.

Remember always... during your freewill time and when doing God's work...
that you are the Christ. And pray to and praise God. "Oh Lord, thank you for my life and this day, thank you for my wife and helpmate, my children, and our home." "Lord, I am continually in awe of you of your wonderful creations: the flowers and trees, the sun, moon, the sky and the stars, mountains and valleys, rivers and oceans, and the bounty of food you have given us to eat. Thank you Lord... I am the Christ... I am one with Your Being."

Reconditioning your conscious mind to the fact and the truth that you are the Christ will probably take several years to realize. You must have faith and never despair or deny this fact. Stay on the path and persevere.

Years ago up on the mountain I was told by my Indian Guides to look for certain signs on every person I came into contact with. It seemed so complicated at the time... I didn't think that I would ever be able to remember to check for those signs. It was hard and I forgot most of the time. But I worked at it over the years... until it became a natural thing, a second nature for me to immediately check a persons signs.

It took years for that little bit of sign reading to become part of my immediate awareness. And so it will be for most of us to realize and be immediately aware that we are the Christ. You must work at it... and practice, allowing God's consciousness to flow through you.

Practice being the Christ is not a mental exercise... you don't stop and think out what Jesus would do in that situation... you calm yourself and ask the Father within what you should do... then allow God to act and speak through you. As an ego you step back and watch yourself act out God's inspiration. With practice (a lot of practice) your conscious mind will unite with God's infinite
mind and you will be able to act immediately as One Being.

The conscious mind dictates and the subconscious minds creates. This is the Law. So, affirm... affirm... affirm: I am the Christ... I am one with God.
Continually and consciously plant that seed in your subconscious mind. And the subconscious mind will bring that reality forth into manifestation.

I am the Christ... I am one with God, is a statement of truth. You are the Christ... you have always been the Christ... and you will always be the Christ.

As you begin to live the truth and speak the truth you unite your consciousness with the power of God's infinite intelligence and you become One Being and your word becomes law. What you say must happen. "Arise and walk... Lazarus come forth."

You will always be an individual. God does not want to take over your personal consciousness... He wants to live with you in peace and harmony...
as Father and Beloved Son. You owe your life and consciousness to Him... out of His love for you He created you and a paradise for you to live in... with sight and sound and color and breath. Praise God for your being able to see and hear and understand. What wonderful gifts! Tell Him... and praise Him and Bless Him for your life.

For inspiration to live a Christ like life in the every day world read Eileen Caddy's two books: Footprints on the Path and God Spoke to Me. [The links are to excerpts in my journal.] You need to allow your dictatorial world view ego to fade away and dissolve and create a completely new beautiful and pleasant personality. The above books will help you to do that.

It does not matter how menial the task may be,
you can always do it with Me.
I am with you always.

Never hold Me afar off
and feel that what you are doing you must do alone, because you could not ask Me to share it with you.
I long for you to share every second of your living
...........with Me;
I cannot stress this too strongly.
I do not want you to leave Me out of any part of
...........your life,
and this you will find you will be able to do
more and more easily
as you become aware that we are one.

That is the most precious truth;
once accepted fully
and there is a constant awareness of that oneness,
you can no longer live a separate life from Me;
all you do will be with Me,
for Me,
to My honour and glory.

From, FOOTPRINTS on the Path, by Eileen Caddy, p.98

Live by and for the Spirit... continually express Light and Love... and love the Lord, your God... with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And Love others as yourself. These are the commandments to guide your life.

To be able to be 100% aware you must be free, both mentally and physically. Seek out those you have offended and sincerely ask them for forgiveness. If the person is unavailable pray over the matter, repent and ask the persons forgiveness in your mind. This takes more time but sooner or later you will feel gradual release from that bondage. Purify the mind by... truthfulness, forgiveness, meditation and prayer.

Purify the body by fasting, bathing, deep breathing, sunshine, exercise and eating a natural raw food diet. When you eat raw foods your body becomes cleansed of toxic matter and your mind functions as never before. Your previous life will seem like a bad dream and for the first time in your life you will experience total awareness.

Your thinking will be crystal clear and your memory unfailing. Your body will sing with it's new freedom from minor nagging aches and pains. For the first time in your life you will feel the vitality and freedom of an unhampered body. You will realize that a raw food diet and fasting along with mental purity and plenty of exercise (walking several miles every day) are the keys to living a spiritual life with complete awareness.

Fasting and a raw food diet removes those nagging thoughts of guilt and remorse that "loop" unbidden through the mind. As the body is cleansed, the recurring bad thoughts are released and forgotten.

With physical purity you will be released from all dis-ease. Your eyesight, hearing, memory and thinking will be sharp and clear. You will have unlimited energy. If you are injured you will feel no pain. You will wake in the morning with a feeling of wonder... like when you were a child... "Oh, boy, what am I going to do today." A feeling of innocence returns. You will begin to see your environment as the spiritual reality that it truly is.

When you first awaken in the morning pray... "Dear Lord, thank you for this day... help me to remember every moment of this day that I am the Christ... I am one with your Infinite Being." Focus your awareness to remain in the moment of the Christ consciousness... first thing in the morning, declare yourself, bring the idea and the ideal of the Christ to the forefront of your conscious mind and gently hold it there.

When you lose touch with conscious awareness of your Christ Being you have wandered into the wilderness of illusion. Immediately on realizing this reorient your mind: I am the Christ... I am one with God.

As you practice day after day you will be able to maintain longer periods of conscious awareness. Talk with your Inner Voice and ask for your Creators guidance... pray to and praise your Holy Father within and your Holy Mother without who surrounds you with Her sacred creations in Nature.

We live in a world madness created by the dark minds of men who cannot hear the Creators Voice. Pay little attention to this world of illusion... focus your mind on your Inner Light and the beauty and wonder of Nature. Retreat, and live quietly in the awareness of your Christ Consciousness.

How to Live in the Moment

Living in the moment is all about living like there's no tomorrow. It takes practice but in the end, you'll lead a fuller life. To do this you must realize beauty in every moment, and in everyday activities. This is your life, now live!

1. Take notice of the world around you. No matter what you're doing, try to find something beautiful around you. Maybe on your way to work or school, you go over a beautiful bridge, or you get a view of the sunrise behind the city buildings. Realizing these small things can bring life and happiness even to the most boring or routine days. Be thankful for those little things.

2. Focus on whatever you're doing. Even if you're just walking, or wiping the counter, or shuffling cards — how does it feel? There's probably some kind of commentary spinning through your mind, and it probably has to do with something other than what you're doing. Let those thoughts go and focus on what is (not what was, or what could be).

In Buddhism, this is referred to as mindfulness. Pay attention to your senses... touch, sight, smell, sound, and taste. Pretend it's the very last time you'll ever experience whatever you're experiencing.

Have you ever been so engrossed in something that it seemed like the rest of the world just disappeared? Living in the moment is about creating that state of mind at any time. Slow down, and try to savor the present.

3. Smile when you wake up. You can set the tone of appreciation and awareness for the next 24 hours by simply waking up and smiling.

[1]Don't wake up with a groan and a smash of your alarm clock. There's scientific proof that the expressions that you make with your face can actually influence how you feel.

[2]In particular, true happiness is most closely tied to a Duchenne smile which involves smiling with your eyes, as well as your mouth.[3]

4. Commit random, spontaneous acts of kindness. Whether it's donating 1 dollar to a fund at the pharmacy, picking up litter, or helping victims of natural disasters, keep alert in every moment of your day for some way in which you can make the world a better place.

Even the smallest thing, like complimenting someone, can bring joy. It's the most spontaneous and unexpected acts of kindness that produce the greatest impact, and you can't be sensitive to those kinds of opportunities unless you're living in the moment.

5. Minimize activities that dull your awareness of the moment. What are you doing that tempts your mind to run away from the present? For most people, watching television puts you in a passive state of mind, and time slips right by.

Daydreaming and getting lost in a good movie or book isn't bad, but it's not living in the moment because it places your concentration on something that isn't right here, right now; it's a form of escapism. Don't zone out; zone in.

Do things that are active, and that encourage you to look around and engage the world in that moment. Gardening, playing a game, knitting, and playing an instrument are all activities that lend themselves to mindfulness.

Tips:
Play with kids! Children don't worry about the future; they play and enjoy every moment for what it is. They haven't yet learned to think ahead, or mull over the past, so take the opportunity to learn from them.

Forgive. Many of us carry grudges with us that haunt us, and those grudges also prevent us from opening our hearts to others because we're scared of getting hurt again.

Watch your breath, by noticing your breathing pattern your mind naturally quiets and pays more attention to the present moment.

Warnings:
Living in the moment doesn't mean you shouldn't care about the future, or do reckless, irresponsible things. It means that when you make a choice to do something, you focus on actually doing it, rather than letting your mind dwell on the future (or past).

Do not let living in the moment be offensive, rude, uncaring, intrusive, or inconsiderate of others while focusing on living for yourself.
